Living in Australia and hoping for some Dell Streak related news. Well, it seems as if today is your lucky day as we have the official word from Optus that the Streak will be available sooner rather than later.

According to the details, the release day will come on October 1st and the Streak will be priced anywhere from as low as nothing upfront to $649. In order to score the Streak tablet for free though, you will need to agree to a 24 month agreement on a AUD$59 per month cap. As for that particular plan, that will offer 2GB of data transfer per month along with unlimited standard national SMS and MMS messages and yes’ for 5. That plan also arrives with $500 cap credit, though if you want to increase that a bit you can also opt for the AUD$79 per month cap which comes with an $800 cap credit.
Other plans include the AUD$99 per month cap which offers 3GB of monthly data, unlimited standard national SMS and MMS along with unlimited local and national calls to Australian fixed lines as well as voice and video calls to any Australian GSM mobile.
Last in terms of the available plans, those looking to save money each money and spend it up front can opt for the AUD$49 per month cap which comes with 1GB of monthly data, yes’ for 5, no SMS or MMS messages, a $450 cap credit and $7.00 monthly handset repayment.
As for the tablet, this will be the same Streak that many have already been made familiar with which includes a 5 inch (480 x 800) capacitive touchscreen display, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and dual-LED flash, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth, a 16GB microSD card and Android 1.6 with some Dell customizations in terms of the user interface. Plus there will be Android Market access for downloading apps.
