Netflix Brings Streaming Movies To Canada, Available Today For $7.99 Per Month
Coming as expected, Netflix has officially launched a streaming only service for those in Canada. The service is available as of today, though it is limited as compared to what is available here in the US.

The Netflix service in Canada comes with one option in terms of plans — unlimited streaming for $7.99 per month. In other words, no available option to have DVD and/or Blu-rays arriving in those red envelopes. One perk though, to kick off the launch;
“Canadians can immediately begin a free, one-month trial — or learn more about Netflix — by going to www.netflix.ca.”
One month is not all that bad of a time limit to try out the service. In terms of titles that will be available. On that front we are a little worried, but that is based in part on the description coming from Netflix which includes “thousands.” Not tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands, but simply thousands. Of course, that is still quite a bit and once upon a time, the US based streaming had lots less than it does now. Otherwise the service is said to offer both movies and television episodes including “feature films, popular TV series, independent cinema, documentaries, foreign language movies, and kids’ programming.”
As for devices, at present that will include Windows and Mac computers as well as the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3. And thankfully, the streaming support will also be compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad as well as Blu-ray players from Samsung and Toshiba. Future support will also arrive on the Xbox 360 as well as Vizio and Insignia Blu-ray players.
At present, the Netflix service in Canada will be in English only and includes partnerships with studios such as Lionsgate, MGM Studios, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Universal Pictures, as well as leading Canadian distributors Alliance Films, Maple Pictures, eOne and Mongrel.

Hi,
I just tried to sign up with Netflix in Canada but Debit cards are not accepted here in Canada by Netflix. They are accepted in the USA. Are there any plans to accepted them in canada in the near future. I don’t have a credit card so I guess I’m left out in the cold.Could you please advise me if there is a way around this.
Take Care
Mel
Mel, your phone number had been edited out of your comment (you really don’t want to be offering up your home phone number in comments like this, kind of asking for trouble, so removed it – the world is made up of all sorts) – Ed.
I was wondering if any other movies will be brought to Canada because when I typed in m.v.p most valuable primate it showed a picture of the case but it wasn’t available so if u have any idea of what movies will be brought to Canada in the near future
