Motorola Droid 2 World Edition to Feature 1.2GHz Processor?
The software that a smartphone is running has become an integral part of a buyers decision process. Some may choose Android, some iOS and some BlackBerry OS, just to name a few. However, no matter which you choose, if a handset isn’t powered by up to date hardware the chances that it will keep up with the pack are slim. Luckily, most modern devices that come out feature a decent amount of RAM and processors clocked above or around (in the T-Mobile G2‘s case) 1GHz.

However, now that the 1GHz mobile processor has been out for a while from various hardware manufacturers, it’s about time we stepped things up a notch. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that there has been talk of mobile processors clocked at 1.2GHz or even higher for quite some time, but we’ve unfortunately yet to see such a thing hit the market.
Well, it seems that the Motorola Droid 2 World Edition may be one of the first devices to feature such a processor. This device features the same general form factor as the regular Droid 2 on Verizon but with a nifty paint job. Originally, it was thought that these were the only changes that the device would feature over the regular Droid 2 but now some new reports have been added to the mix.
According to our source, the Motorola Droid 2 World Edition will in fact feature a processor clocked at 1.2GHz. For those who don’t know, the regular Droid 2 features a 1GHz processor meaning the World Edition would be getting a 200MHz boost, if these rumors are to be believed.
As time goes on, it’s going to be interesting to see just how close the clock speed of these mobile processors will come to their desktop counterparts. Of course, at the rate we’re going it would be safe to assume that those clock speeds will rival or even surpass their desktop counterparts at some point in the not too distant future.
Anyone looking to grab a Droid 2 World Edition if it features a 1.2GHz processor?
