Fake GreenPois0n iOS 4.1 / 4.0.2 Jailbreak Tool Is a Password-Stealing Malware; Beware
We’ve been talking a lot lately about GreenPois0n, the first jailbreak tool that is thought to jailbreak iOS 4.1 and 3.2.2 devices in the near future, but that doesn’t make it a real product. In fact if you find it lying anywhere around the Internet and decide to download it to your computer then you’d probably be in possession of a fake Greenpois0n tool that not only will it not jailbreak any iOS device but will steal all your personal data in the process.

We’re actually not surprised to see other hackers use the momentum of this particular, but unreleased yet, jailbreak tool to fool some people into installing this malware on their computers and steal their personal details in the process. Unless you heard it from a tech blog, like ours, that GreenPois0n has been released, probably free of charge, by the Chronic Dev Team, then don’t download any program found out there that comes with the same name. The only place to get such jailbreaking tools is the “official” Chronic Dev Team’s site, not torrents or who knows what other locations.
This fake iOS 4.1 / 4.0.2 jailbreak tool is apparently spreading on torrent sites, so go ahead and ignore it in case you happen to run into it. There’s no point revealing your personal details to anyone in the process. Here’s what Kaspersky says about it:
Cybercriminals have definitely been riding the buzz around the supposed jailbreaking tool. It’s presumed to be called “Greenpois0n” and it’s expected to be released any day now. Not surprisingly, we’ve seen a number of fake “Greenpois0n” Trojans.
If you search for the Greenpoison on torrent sites you might be in for a surprise.
We’ll be back with official news about GreenPois0n’s progress the minute we have them but in the mean time stay away from anything that tells you the new jailbreak tool for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is available for download, unless of course it’s coming from the Chronic Dev Team themselves.
