The Real BlackBerry Storm 3 Wasn't In Those Pictures Today
Earlier today, we (and every other tech blog) posted pictures of what was allegedly the BlackBerry Storm 3. It was from Indonesia and looked like a next generation BlackBerry. It had the styling, a big touchscreen, the optical trackpad. But, Boy Genius of Boy Genius Report is now alleging that he’s seen the real BlackBerry Storm 3, and that isn’t it. Unless it is.

Boy Genius writes that he’s seen the real Storm 3, and that wasn’t it! Here’s what BG writes about the Storm 3.
- At first glance, identical to the Storm 2, but a bit slimmer and lighter.
- 5MP Camera
- 512MB of RAM
- BlackBerry OS 6
- SurePress Screen included.
Well, that’s certainly a big disappointment, as the mystery BlackBerry featured in the Indonesian spycam photos had a huge non-SurePress screen. But, shortly after posting that, Boy Genius made a retraction.
He writes that after publishing that, he was told that the “Storm 3″ he saw (detailed above) may have just been a product refresh of the Storm 2. So, what about the Storm 3? What about that device (pictured above) that was allegedly the first Storm 3. Will the real Storm 3 please stand up?
To recap the features of the mysterious jumbo BlackBerry featured above, it’s got a 3.7-inch screen, BB OS 6, 8GB of storage and a mobile WiFi hotspot ability.
So, either this phone isn’t the Storm 3, or it could be a new touchscreen BlackBerry device. A new Torch, perhaps? A deviant entry into the Storm series, perhaps (a non-numbered Storm)?
This is the most excited the tech blog circuit has gotten about BlackBerry products in a while. Too bad we don’t know what phones we’re getting excited about though.
