XtremeMac Tango Speaker Dock Offers Bluetooth Over AirPlay
Speaker docks, especially those for the iPod, are scarcely anything new, but it’s definitely strange to find one that doesn’t work with the Apple norm of AirPlay, instead eschewing it for Bluetooth connectivity. The heretical device in question goes by the name of the XtremeMac Tango.
The Tango offers a normal port for plugging in your iPod, which should be expected, but you’ll also get a wireless option that connects via Bluetooth rather than AirPlay, which is definitely out of the ordinary for a Mac device. You’ll need to download a free app to use the Bluetooth, but that’s actually pretty easy even if you’ve never done it before.
It also boasts a 2.1 channel digital audio system with a downward firing subwoofer. You’ll get LED status indicators, line-in jack for connecting other audio gear, and a remote.
And what’s better, should you decide to go the XtremeMac route, you’ll have your choice of flavors: the Tango TRX sells for $180, and for $20 more, you can get the Tango TRX D, which offers everything the TRX does as well as a charging dock that’ll recharge your iPod while you play it.
