White iPhone 4 Coming by Christmas 2010 Says Steve Jobs

During its last important media event, the one in which the new iPods and Apple TV were unveiled, Apple failed to tell us anything about the faith of the iPhone 4 after September 30, when the free bumper/case program will expire but also about the white iPhone 4, a handset which was supposed to hit stores in July initially.

In the mean time we found out that the free bumper/case program will end on September 30 but Apple will keep offering free bumpers and cases to those iPhone 4 customers still needing it. But we still had no news on the white iPhone 4 launch until we heard Steve Jobs answered to a new unhappy Apple customer. Here’s what the Apple fan wrote:

Hello Steve, My name is Nathan, I’m a high school student from San Bernardino. I also happen to be one of your biggest fan and a total Apple fanboy and proud to be
I’ve been saving up money to buy the new iphone 4. I want the white one but Apple said it won’t be available until later this year. I know you must be asked this question hundreds of times a day but do you think we can expect to get the white iphone for xmas?
I hope you can answer. Thank you Steve

And Steve answered, in his own particular way: short, and to the point:

Christmas is later this year.

Naturally this email exchange could be fake, but, on the other hand, it looks pretty genuine considering what we’ve seen in the past when it comes to Steve Jobs’ emails to consumers. If the email is real then this is about as official as this gets as Apple didn’t offer any details about the faith of the white iPhone 4 yet. Is that answer good enough for you?
