Samsung Media Hub Gets Detailed For Use With Galaxy Tab/Galaxy S
Most consumers would probably say that their favorite place to watch movies, TV shows and more is in their home theater or otherwise television touting area. However, while this is definitely the premiere way to consume content outside of a movie theater it’s not always possible. Luckily, high powered portable devices with high resolution displays are coming at us fast and furious making it easy to consume media on the go, with style.

While smart phones are more than capable at displaying a TV show or movie their generally small screens may not provide the most enjoyable experience. Tablets, on the other hand, with their large displays, built-in storage and Internet connectivity may be just what the doctor ordered. If you’ll remember, not too long ago we told you that Netflix had released a mobile application for the iPad and soon after that Hulu released their Hulu Plus application.
Both of these services allow consumers to stream content from the cloud straight to their device regardless of location. However, it seems that Samsung is looking to get into the digital distribution game as well with their forthcoming Android 2.2 powered Galaxy Tab.
During their official announcemt of the device yesterday where they told us it would be coming to all major US carriers, they also took the time to touch on their Media Hub service.
We’ve heard about the Samsung Media Hub a few times in the past but just recently the company has come forth to dish out the goods. According to Samsung, movies and next-day TV shows will be available for purchase and/or rental through the Media Hub. What’s even better is they managed to secure Warner, Univesal Studios, MTV, NBC and Paramount as partners for the service. Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing but we do know that it will be comptabile with both the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab. And, to put icing on the cake, Samsung has said that purchased content can be shared with up to 5 devices.
We’ll keep you posted as more information is made known regarding the Samsung Media Hub.
