Google Voice App For Android Gets An Update
Not all that long ago, a version of the T-Mobile G2 firmware leaked online and it was found to contain a new version of the Google Voice app. More specifically though, that updated app offered two Google Voice specific widgets — one for Settings and one for the Inbox. Well, the good news is that Google has rolled out that update and it is now available in the Android Market.

Yup, if you are an Android user who uses the Google Voice app you may want to fire up the Android Market and download the latest version. The update brings the version up to 0.4.1.26 and should make checking messages or initiating a call or text message that much quicker.
In total the update added only those two widgets. As for the Inbox widget, that does just what the name implies — shows your inbox. Well, actually it shows the most recent message in your inbox, but there are also arrows on either side of the message which allow for scrolling to other messages. Plus, when you select a message you will automatically open up the Google Voice app which will show the full message.
The next widget is the Settings widget, which actually has a slightly misleading name. Yes, it does offer quick access to your dialing preferences, but it has a total of four buttons. The other buttons on this app include a Do Not Disturb toggle which will allow you to quickly set your phone to send all calls to voicemail and a button to launch the Google Voice app as well as my personal favorite — the button to quickly compose text messages.
Once again, the update for the Google Voice app can be found in the Android Market and once downloaded and installed — remember to launch the Google Voice app so your calls are properly routed. After which you can then add one or both of the widgets depending on your needs.
