ZumoCast App For The iPad & iPhone Now Available In The App Store

ZumoCast App Launches, Will Allow The User To Stream Audio & Video Files To Your iOS Powered Device

Some good news for those looking to stream media from a home computer to their iOS powered device as yet another service has come available as of today. The new service is called ZumoCast, which some may recognize the name from when we mentioned it back in late July. Well, the good news since then — the app has left the private beta status and is now publicly available for all to use.

Furthermore, the Zumo portion of the name may also sound familiar as this app comes from the same company that is behind the Zumodrive app — Zector. That aside thought, the ZumoCast app is available in the App Store and will work with the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. In addition you will need to have a desktop app installed and running, but the good news here is that is available for both Windows and Mac computers.

As for the apps, both the mobile and desktop versions are free to download and free to use. You cannot really argue with free, but as to what you can expect in terms of features.

The ZumoCast app offers video and music streaming as well as the ability to access and even download files (including documents) to your iOS powered device. Furthermore, once setup and running you will also be able to access your files from any web browser.

In terms of file support and the actual streaming. According to the app features listing, the ZumoCast app offers “real-time adaptive transcoding” which really means that “videos are transcoded real-time to work with iPad and iPhone, so you don’t have to worry about converting videos from one format to another.”

Otherwise, the app will also allow you to sync files in advance so you can listen offline and not have to worry about downloading at a later time. And lastly, the ZumoCast app will work with both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity.

In short, ZumoCast seems like it has a decent feature set. Of course, there are already numerous music streaming options already available, one of which we mentioned not that long ago and have come to really enjoy using — Audiogalaxy. But in the end, we have to think more options will make for more competition which in the end usually means good things for the users.
