New BlackBerry Torch Video Shows Top 5 Torch Tips
After seeing the latest two AT&T BlackBerry Torch commercials, “Moby Dick” and “Rollercoaster“, I thought we’re getting a new ad today when I noticed that AT&T’s YouTube feed was showing me a new video. Unfortunately it’s not a fun ad this time around, only a marketing effort from AT&T to promote the Torch a little more.

The new video, called “AT&T BlackBerry Torch: Top 5 Tips” comes from the AT&T Social Media Team and it’s meant to show us how useful and therefore a lot more likeable the BlackBerry Torch. Speaking about tips, here’s a brief version of this 3-minute video:
- The Torch can use barcodes to make BlackBerry Messenger connections a lot faster
- Sliding up and down the screen by actually touching it will not open any applications your finger might accidentally touch; “it’s that smart”
- The Frequent screen will always show you your favorite apps on the Torch, which are basically the apps you access the most
- The Torch comes with a great podcast application, which will help you keep up with your favorite streams while you’re on the road
- The social feeds application will keep you updated on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace in one place.
What’s funny about these top 5 tips is that, although the Social Media Team at AT&T has prepared them, not all of them are necessarily related to social media, are they?
So why go the extra mile and talk about the BlackBerry Torch on YouTube? Are Torch sales really that low in the USA? Is AT&T having problems at selling its BlackBerry Torch stock? That’s certainly understandable considering that AT&T is still the exclusive iPhone carrier in the USA, which means potential Torch customers might choose the iPhone instead.
But is the iPhone responsible for low Torch sales? I don’t think that’s the case here. Maybe the Torch isn’t exactly what BlackBerry fans want from a BlackBerry? Are you happy with the Torch?
The Torch will attack Canada next with Rogers, Telus, Bell and Virgin Mobile all selling the device in a couple of weeks from now. I wonder how the Torch will do on Canadian soil.
