LG Optimus 7 Windows Phone 7 Handset Specs & Features Now Official
That’s right folks, the LG Optimus 7 we’ve seen the other day is the first Windows Phone 7 to become official. September 6 is the day when the first manufacturer announced the phone so we’re definitely excited to see what’s coming next from the competition.

But our Optimus 7-related excitement is quickly shot down. The official press release is definitely short although not entirely to the point, since it’s lacking plenty of details. In fact LG is focusing more on the entertainment sharing side of the phone, and while it’s definitely interesting to see a WP7 smartphone connect to a big screen TV, that’s definitely not the way we intend to use WP7 handsets every day.
So here’s what specs and features LG mentions all through the press release:
- DLNA connectivity
- Multimedia sharing technology
- Wi-Fi
- 720p HD videos support
- music player
So yeah, we wouldn’t call this an official Optimus 7 launch even after reading again the press release. LG seems to be more interested in showing us the new sharing features of the phone, although it’s weird to talk about a device that hasn’t been properly introduced to the world. I mean, why be interested in the Optimus 7’s sharing capabilities if we don’t know what else it can do? When it comes to WP7 smartphones, a totally redesigned Microsoft platform, people will want to know more about those phones, and what we’ve seen today simply doesn’t cut it.
Maybe LG should revise their press release and add some details to it that we, and our readers, actually care about. The LG Optimus 7 might really be a great WP7 handset, a smartphone that LG could really use, and instead of building real buzz around it, we’re talking about DLNA streaming capabilities. Apparently that’s something users really want:
“This unique feature is a direct response to the growing need for technologies that empower users to share multimedia content across electronic devices. LG Optimus 7 smartphones will be at the center of a complete entertainment experience, representing LG’s leadership in mobile convergence.”
We would include the full press release for you to enjoy, but there’s nothing interesting to read in it. It’s not even a great teaser since now we do know the name of the phone and how it will look like. What we do know though is that the LG Optimus 7 is going to go on sale in the fourth quarter of the year, but, just as you expect, we have no pricing details yet.
