LG To Release Windows Phone 7 Developers Prototype As Optimus 7 [LG Confirms Their Windows Phone 7 Developers Prototype Codenamed Panther Will Hit Store Shelves As Optimus 7]
Stark competition has been brought to the mobile operating system market from competitors like Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. Thanks to a plethora of devices running both platforms they have posted strong sales numbers with promising outlooks for the future.

However, just because these two platforms get the most media attention, it does not mean there aren’t other competitors currently on the market. Palm, for instance, has their much loved webOS platform which HP is looking to bring to devices such as new smartphones and highly anticipated tablets. Research in Motion too has their own mobile operating system offerings with the recently updated BlackBerry 6.
Microsoft on the other hand, while in the game for some time has received some scrutiny for their previous attempts at a mobile platform with Windows Mobile which provided users with a sometimes buggy and unpleasant experience.
Luckily, Microsoft’s engineers have been hard at work on the company’s next entry into the mobile platform industry with Windows Phone 7. This all new mobile platform has been designed from the ground up to be fully supportive of touch input. Additionally, Microsoft will be linking the platform with some of their other popular services such as Xbox Live for a more immersive experience.
While Windows Phone 7 itself is shaping up nicely, it’s not going to be deemed a success until we actually see some launch hardware hit the streets. We know that companies like HTC and LG have signed on to develop smartphones utilizing Windows Phone 7 but which phones they will release first we aren’t sure.
Today, we have reports that say the Windows Phone 7 developer prototype that LG has been flashing around will in fact be hitting store shelves as the Optimus 7. To make matters even better, LG has taken the time during IFA to show off the Optimus 7 running Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system proving to the world that it is in fact a tangible product.
This Optimus 7 smart phone will join the ranks of the Optimus Pad which we told you about late last month. Except several other devices to be released under the Optimus line up.
