After Delays, iPhone 4 Coming To South Korea On September 10th
Apple and KT Corp have finally come out with a solid release date for the iPhone 4 to arrive in South Korea. The tech-heavy country will be getting the fourth iPhone very soon, on September 10th. The phone was originally slated to be released on July 30th, but drama between the Korean government and Apple force delays.

South Korea was among the batch of 24 countries that were to get the iPhone 4 on August 30th. But, during the iPhone 4 Antennagate press event, Jobs said casually “It’s going to take us a little longer to get government approval there.”
This caused a outrage in South Korea. Many Koreans were upset on message boards and things and one Korea newspaper allegedly printed the headline “Jobs lied, didn’t he?” KT Corp, the carrier of the iPhone, originally assured the public that the iPhone was still coming on July 30th, but then quickly changed their tune, confirmed that it has been delayed – probably after a few hasty phone calls from Apple.
South Korea has strong trade import restrictions in place on consumer electronics to protect home-grown companies Samsung and LG. So, it’s not impossible that the Korean government could slow down the iPhone 4 in red tape. But the hot story on Korea tech blogs was that the iPhone 4 was delayed in Korea over financial negotiation between Apple and the carrier, KT Corp.
With all that behind them, the iPhone 4 is finally coming to Korea in just a few days. Hard to believe that it took the tech-savy South Korea that long to get the iPhone. But alas…
