Vodafone Announces Samsung Galaxy Tab Availability

Samsung Announced The Galaxy Tab Was Coming To Europe In Mid-September, But Vodafone Will Launch Later -- In October

Samsung has officially (and finally) unveiled the Galaxy Tab tablet as of this morning, and fellow TFTS team member Chris offered a nice post detailing the specs and official release time frame earlier this morning. And now that the official cat is out of the bag, we are left wondering which carriers will the Galaxy Tab come available with. Well, coming rather quickly, we have received the nod from Vodafone.

That is the good news, but there is a slight catch in the form of extra time. According to the official news from Samsung, the Galaxy Tab would be hitting Europe in September. But those with Vodafone are going to be waiting a few extra weeks.

According to Vodafone, the Galaxy Tab will come available in October. Annoying having to add a few extra weeks wait just like that, but then again with all of the leaks and teasing that we have seen in the lead up to this morning, I think it is safe to say that many have been being teased already.

“The GALAXY Tab will start selling in October in the majority of Vodafone’s European markets and through several partner networks, as well as in a number of other Vodafone markets worldwide.”

As of now, and similar to the Samsung announcement, nothing was given in terms of pricing. Of course, given this is with a mobile carrier, the assumption can be made that it will be tied to an agreement. Otherwise, it seems that Vodafone is pretty happy about being able to offer a new style of device.

“Vodafone’s aim is to offer all customers new and attractive ways to enjoy mobile data, on the move, across a variety of devices,” said Patrick Chomet, Group Director of Terminals at Vodafone. “Adding tablets as part of our device range is a natural next step that gives customers an alternative way to enjoy great content and internet services. The GALAXY Tab is another showcase for Samsung’s innovation capabilities and we’re pleased to be introducing this across a number of our markets”.
