Verizon Wireless Now Offering Pre-Paid Unlimited 3G Data Plans For Smartphones
It looks like those rumors of pre-paid smartphone data plans coming from Verizon Wireless were true. As of today, Verizon has announced the immediate availability of two pre-paid data plans.

First and foremost, the plans are available as of today, however if you want to get in on the pre-paid action today you will need to do it in a retail store. Otherwise, they will be available on the Verizon Wireless website beginning September 28th.
As for the plans, they cover a wide variety of 3G smartphones as well as multimedia phones. The good news here is that the plan is unlimited — and will cost just $30 per month. Well, I suppose the good news really comes in the fact that these are contract free. And for those sporting a multimedia phone and not in need of unlimited data, you also have the option of going with the lower priced plan which offers 25MB per month for $10. And for those brave enough to go the $10 per month route, be warned, overages are billed at $0.20 per MB.
Nice to see that the plans are simple and to the point, though that lower priced option is a little scary in terms of the overage potential. Moving on, according to the details coming from Verizon, here are the phones that are eligible;
3G Smartphones
- BlackBerry Curve 8330
- BlackBerry Curve 8530
- BlackBerry Storm 9530
- BlackBerry Storm2 9550
- BlackBerry Tour 9630
- BlackBerry Bold 9650

- Palm Pixi Plus
- DROID by Motorola

- DROID X by Motorola

3G Multimedia phones

Too bad Verizon uses CDMA crap and not GSM or I’d be bringing my unlocked iPhone to them right now for this. I don’t want a stupid toy like that Droid crap, I wan’t an iPhone. Get a GSM network like, umm, the rest of the world, would ya Verizon?
Are they still offering this plan? I can’t find it on their website.
