Toshiba Folio 100 Android Tablet Now Official & Priced At €399
Coming as expected, Toshiba has chosen to officially unveil the Folio 100 during IFA 2010. The news has just recently been announced and given the details, the reaction will likely be mixed. With that, first and foremost is the pricing and release details. So far Toshiba has said that the Folio 100 will come with a suggested price of €399 and hit Europe, the Middle East and Africa in Q4 2010.

So yes, right away we have some bad news. Well, bad for anyone in some areas, notably the US and Canada. But otherwise, the Folio 100 is going to be an Android 2.2 running tablet with a 10.1 inch capacitive multi-touch display. As for resolution, the usual for a 10 inch display — 1024 x 600.
And before we dive into the rest of the specs, lets get the other disappointing part out of the way — no Android Market access. Of course, there will be some apps pre-installed as well as access to the Toshiba Market Place. Though, nothing was really mentioned as to which (or how many) apps are going to be found in the Toshiba Market Place. As for pre-installed apps, that is actually a decent bunch and will include the Opera Mobile web browser, Documents To Go office suite, Evernote, Fring, Adobe Flash 10.1 and the ebook reading app FBReader.
With the disappointments out of the way, lets get into the remaining specs, which coincidentally are actually quite nice. The Folio 100 will feature an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 16GB of internal storage, SD/MMC card reader, HDMI, USB 2.0, 1.3 megapixel webcam, accelerometer and a battery life that is said to be up to 7 hours.
Furthermore, the tablet will weigh in at 760 grams with measurements of 281 x 181 x 14 mm. And last but not least, there will also be a future version of the Folio 100 that will come sporting built-in mobile broadband, which is noted as being “soon available in certain models and countries.”
