Sony's PS3 3D Blu-Ray Capabilities Hit This October

A Slight Delay Pushes Back Sony's Plans for 3D Blu-ray on the PS3

Well folks, if you were hoping to make your PS3 handle 3D Blu-rays this month, I’ve got sad news for you out of Sony’s camp–the promised update has been delayed to October.

But cheer up–you’ve had 3D gaming capability since April, even if there are only a handful of games for it (man, where have I heard THAT one before?), like Wipeout 3D, Super Stardust HD and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. Besides, you’ll likely want to wait for some of the 3D movie bundles to make the whole thing worthwhile anyway.

And there are some pretty decent movie bundles planned–Alice in Wonderland, for one, and for two, Michael Jackson’s This Is It (though Michael Jackson in 3D might be a little too creepy for most, and this from a horror buff).

It seems that Sony likes to get its hardware in place well ahead of the content, so it may be for the best that you have a wait now anyway–you’ll be waiting into the content wait and that’ll cut that back a bit.
