IFA Show Reveals Sony Vaio 3D Laptop

A Prototype of a 3D Capable Laptop Hits The Berlin Show

I know everyone’s still reeling from all the Apple news of the last few days, but we’ve got some exciting stories coming out of the IFA show too–apparently, Sony is looking to exhibit a prototype Vaio that will display in 3D.

Sony has promised, for 2011, a notebook packing a 3D 240Hz LCD display. It’s set to use an IR blaster, in conjunction with Bravia shutter glasses, to provide that sweet 3D image.

Admittedly, the prototype is a bit hacked together; it’s crammed inside an F-series casing with a 16 inch screen, and all we know about it so far is that they want it on shelves sometime next year. We don’t even know if you get a pair of Bravia shutter glasses to use with the device or they’re strictly sold separately.

This makes some sense, of course–it’s really early-stage news–so keep it here because we will likely get lots more information about this as we get closer to launch.
