Huawei Ideos Android Smartphone Announced, Expected To Arrive Mid-October [Huawei Gets Official With The Ideos Smartphone, Will Feature 2.8" Capacitive Display, 528MHz CPU & Android 2.2]
It looks like IFA has brought yet another Android smartphone announcement, this latest is coming by way of Huawei who have unveiled a rather decent looking and still budget-minded handset. The new model is the Huawei Ideos and it will arrive with Android 2.2 sometime around the middle of October.

With that, lets get into the specs. First and perhaps most exciting is that (aside from coming with Froyo), the Ideos will be a “with Google” phone and come with a vanilla Android installation. In other words, no fancy skins or user interface on top, just Android. But perhaps the icing on that cake is how any future updates to Android could potentially roll out quickly given the lack of further customizations.
As for specs, the Ideos is not the most powerful, but given the price tag still worthy of some attention. The handset will have a 2.8 inch (240 x 320) touchscreen display, 528MHz processor, HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11n, GPS, Bluetooth and a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus. In addition, it is worth noting that the camera does not have a flash. Other features will include a 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot, accelerometer and 3G Mobile Hotspot support for up to eight devices.
The price for the Ideos is said to be anywhere from around $150 to $200 and will likely be a pay-as-you-go phone. And as you will see in the gallery below, the Huawei Ideos will be available in a variety of colors including black, blue, purple and yellow.
Of course, given this is being branded as a “with Google” handset you can also expect to find the Google goodies including Android Market access as well as Gmail, Google Maps, Maps Navigation, Voice Actions and more all on-board.
And just in case anyone was wondering where the Ideos name came from, it actually stands for Industrial Design Evolution Operating System.
