Windows Phone 7 Powered HTC HD3 To Be Name HD7?
It’s pretty much a love it or hate it thing when it comes to any form of technology and when it comes to Microsoft’s products, the same can be said. However, in terms of their various operating systems it’s generally been hit or miss for the past couple of versions.

For instance, Windows 7 is great and loved by pretty much everyone, Windows Vista on the other hand everyone hated and Windows XP again, everyone generally loved. However, when it comes to their mobile operating system line up, things get a bit more gritty.
For the past few years Windows Mobile has pretty much been looked down upon as the red headed step child of the mobile platform industry. Featuring a sluggish and overall unpleaseant experience in most cases, Windows Mobile once was towards the top of the charts but once Android and iOS rolled around things quickly changed.
There was one more modern device that runs Windows Mobile that actually turns the otherwise horrid experience into a great one. This device, called the HTC HD2, features a large 4.3-inch touchscreen, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and 576MB or RAM. If you noticed, this phone featuers generally the same specs as the more modern HTC EVO 4G.
Windows Mobile’s glory days may be over (if they ever actually had them) Microsoft is looking to redeem thmselves with the forthcoming release of Windows Phone 7. This new and improved mobile platform is designed from the ground up to work with finger input much like Android and iOS and includes integration with Microsoft’s other popular services such as Xbox Live.
While we’ve seen several phones get leaked and announced running the platform it’s been hard to really pinpoint a flagship device. However, many have speculated that the HTC HD2′s successor commonly known as the HD3 will take this title.
Although, today, we have reports that the new device won’t be called the HTC HD3 at all but instead the HTC HD7. While this implies that it’s about 5 generations ahead of the HD2 it’s speculated that it is instead a tribute to its Windows Phone 7 platform. We also have reports that the device will be launching on October 18th which isn’t a terribly long time to wait.
If this is true, let’s just hope that the device features specs similar to that 4.5-inch touchscreen, 1.5GHz processor and 1GB RAM/ROM that we saw on that HTC HD3 mock up back in July. Hey, we can dream, can’t we?
