New iPod Shuffle To Incorporate Best Of Both Versions
At their (self-proclaimed) music event today in San Francisco, Apple unveiled a handful of goodies, including their new line of iPods. At the low-end was the new iPod Shuffle, the entry-level device. The 3G iPod Shuffle took some criticism for not having mechanical buttons, but Apple has taken that under advisement.

To put it in layman’s terms, Apple has taken the best of the Shuffle 2G and the 3G. It goes back to the thin “lapel pin” style form factor of the 2G and it brings back the popular mechanical buttons that the 2G had. But, they’ve kept the voice over features from the 3G that were popular with users.
In addition to the voice-over features, it’s also getting the genius playlists, and it’ll offer 15 hours of battery life, not bad.
You know the iPod Shuffle will be a great value. 2GB for $49. It’ll becoming in tiny packaging and will be coming in different colors: Silver, Blue, Green, Pink and Orange.
No word on a release date, but I’d expect them to be out at the end of the press event.
