New iPod nano 6G Official: Apple Reinvents the iPod nano with Plenty of Touch-friendliness

New iPod nano 6G Specs, Features & Pricing Details Now Official from Apple’s Media Event

Apple has unveiled the new iPod nano 6G today, and, just like we suspected, the rumors were real. The new iPod nano is smaller, slimmer, and touch-friendlier.

The iPod nano is 46% smaller and 42% lighter than its predecessor. It’s so small that it looks fairly similar to the iPod shuffle, but it’s definitely a brand new device and just a little better than the shuffle. The iPod nano comes with volume buttons, VoiceOver, FM radio support, Nike+ support, a pedometer and support for 29 languages.

The battery will offer you around 24 hours of playback time which is not too bad, is it? Of course you’ll have lots of multitouch fun on it although don’t expect iOS apps support on this baby. You can enjoy music, videos, photos, and that’s about it.

The iPod nano 6G will be available in two versions, 8GB for $149 and 16GB for $179 and you’ll get it in seven colors, which include all the iPod shuffle colors and a new Product Red and a graphite version.

Will you get the new iPod nano 6G?

I dont think i like it, I was excited when i heard the shuffle would get its buttons back but then looking at the nano it got me a little frustrated. First of all the display is smaller, and one of the most appealing things about the nano is its click wheel. I can easily change a song by clicking a button, where as a multitouch display i have to look at my arm and scroll through a list of songs. I know you can do playlist but thats just inconvient for me when i just want to skip a song. i want to be able to just quickly press a button and not worry about if im actually touching an on screen button or not.Just because apple can make a device smaller doesn’t mean they should, sometimes it gets to a point where its more of hassle dealing with a tiny device. IMO the old form factor was great for working out they should have just added multi touch to that display and left it alone. This just looks a little to awkward to have if its not clipped on you and your working out. plus they took away the camera, i wasnt a huge fan of the camera but you cant just introduce a feature then take it away. I see the ipod classic being retired soon at this point, no update was made or anything its been a looooong time since that thing has last been updated. It needs a face lift or to just be killed of completely. Hardcore Music lover that ‘must’ have thousands and thousands of songs are the only ones keeping it alive, and as you can imagine its a niche. As for the ipod touch, the update was excellent. Apple clearly wants all their devices to be geared towards multi-touch, so i cant say im surprised with these changes. But i dont know maybe they will re-introduce buttons like they did with the shuffle, they like to change things up and contradict themselves ha.
