Commodore USA Announce Plans To Relaunch Amiga Brand PC's

Classic Computer Brands Making A Return, First The AIO Commodore PC64 & Now An Amiga Branded AIO Keyboard Computer

Classic computing brands seem to be making a return lately. Of course, they all seem to be coming by way of Mr. Barry Altman, who is the President and CEO of Commodore USA. That said, last week we saw them unveil the Commodore PC64 which is going to be an all-in-one style keyboard computer. Granted, the big catch with that is it will be in a replica C64 keyboard case — beige color and all. And the latest announcement means the return of the Amiga brand.

And unlike last weeks PC64 announcement, this Amiga announcement does not offer many details in terms of hardware and specs. So far what we can tell you is that Commodore USA is bringing back the Amiga brand and it will come in the form of an all-in-one keyboard computer. Which strangely is nothing like the Amiga 3000 that was featured in the PR image.

According to the press release;

“Commodore USA has now taken a major role in not just supporting the future Amiga market with our many new products, but also in providing a new beginning for the enormous existing Amiga community. Our relationship with them, along with our support for the elegant, robust and lightweight AROS desktop operating system, will ensure that they and future customers will benefit from our new and exciting vision, and enable the legacy Commodore and Amiga culture to flourish. We look forward to bringing these new products to market, and welcoming a whole new generation of computer users to the Commodore and Amiga experience”

In short, I am sure the Amiga loyals are happy to learn of this news. Me personally, I am still holding out hope of actually purchasing the Commodore PC64. That said, we here at TFTS will keep an eye out for any additional details in regards to what we can expect to see on the Amiga AIO.
