ViewSonic Gets Official With The ViewPad 7 Android Tablet
Thankfully IFA 2010 is getting ready to kick off, which means we can hopefully get some official details (and put an end to the rumors) for all of these Android tablets we have been hearing about lately. And with that, it looks like ViewSonic wanted to get a jump on things.

As of this morning they have officially introduced the once rumored ViewPad 7 tablet. The details at this point are not entirely complete, however we did learn a decent amount of what we should expect. Of course, a formal introduction is set to take place during IFA.
“We are proud to announce another world first at Viewsonic. 3G phone functionality combined with dual cameras gives the ability for use of Android apps to use augmented reality or video calling on the move with the benefit of an excellent 7″ screen” says Derek Wright, European Product Marketing Manager.
The ViewPad 7, as the name implies will come sporting a 7 inch display. Further more, at least for now it will have the latest and greatest in terms of Android, by that I mean the ViewPad 7 will be running Froyo, Android 2.2. It was also noted as coming with access to the “Google Android app store” with access to over 100,000 applications. Given the number, we are taking that as the official Android Market.
Other specs that were given include a 3 megapixel camera on the back, VGA quality camera on the front, g-sensor, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and A-GPS. In addition the ViewPad 7 will have a SIM card slot and “full 3G and phone functionality.” In other words, kind of like the Dell Streak, but only larger.
And just in case you are unsure of who would want to carry around a ‘phone’ with a 7 inch display, ViewSonic has thought of that, stating that “the ViewPad 7 is aimed at users who require the ‘always on’ connectivity they are used to from a mobile phone with a more agreeable screen size for longer term use.”
