Leaked Document Says Samsung Galaxy Tab Coming to Verizon

Further Evidence Supports CDMA Samsung Galaxy Tab Will Be Coming to Verizon Wireless

Regardless of if you love or hate them, there is no denying the immense hype surrounding tablet computers. As I’ve said countless times in the past much of this hype can be attribued to Apple’s iPad and the hefty sales numbers it put up. Thankfully for the competition, Apple leaving out key features like a front facing camera, USB ports and more has given competitors a fair chance to secure a valuable portion of the market.

Several of such devices have already been made known, some more official than others. One of the first devices to really look to give the iPad a run for its money was the HP Slate. However, due to complications HP has announced the Slate project to be no more instead focusing their efforts on a webOS powered device, as they’ve said in the past.

Samsung, on the other hand, has a device that is much closer to actually coming to market dubbed the Galaxy Tab. This device, feeding off the success of Samsung’s popular Galaxy S series of handsets, picks up where the iPad left off throwing in things like a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 3.2 megapixel rear facing and Google’s Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2 mobile operating system. Additionally, it features 7-inch AMOLED display, a 1GHz processor WiFi and even the Swype text input system.

While Samsung has yet to announce a price point for the device we have pretty much had confirmation that the device is CDMA enabled – meaning it will either be on Sprint or Verizon.

However, today, leaked documents showing the Samsung Galaxy Tab coming to Verizon have emerged on the Internet. As you can see from the above screen shot, the picture looks to be taken off an internal Verizon machine. Of course, this may all be a big hoax there’s pretty much a 50% chance the tablet will end up on Verizon.

Considering the iPad’s lowest model goes for $499 it would make sense that Samsung would price their Galaxy Tab around there. If so, the iPad may finally be getting a fight for the throne.
