Cisco Making a Go at Skype?

After Negotiations with Google Bogged Down, Cisco is Reportedly Interested in Skype

On whether Cisco is indeed serious in pursuing VoIP service Skype or not is an open book but just in case, we may see a new acquisition if it all pushes through.

It seems that Cisco is making a move to potentially acquiring Skype after reports bogged down between the latter and search engine giant Google.

That is of course Cisco could offer something better than what the people behind Skype are looking for.

Skype is looking for a $5bn valuation from their ongoing IPO process.

But if rumors are true, it looks like Cisco may be offering something more than the $2.5bn, the same amount that Skype paid eBay back in 2005.

Google made a go for Skype but some antitrust concerns have shellacked the potential acquisition.

Either way, whoever ends up with the company will need to have a good plan to turn a decent profit.

Skype revealed that only 6% of their current user-base pays for any kind of service, with the rest making free calls only.
