T-Mobile G2 Android Build Ported To Other Devices Early [T-Mobile G2 Android Firmware Gets Leaked And Ported, Comes Complete With Google Voice Widgets]

Google’s Android operating system first launched back in 2008 with the T-Mobile G1 being its first device. Ever since, hardware manufacturers have been coming fast and furious with various Android releases spanning just about every carrier here in the US. Even further than that, the open source operating system has made its way not only onto smart phones but tablets and in the some cases, netbooks.

However, the Android platform calls the smart phone form factor its home as that is what it was originally designed for. Luckily, there is no drought of devices running the platform with just about every hardware manufacturer in the book getting down on the fun, as I said above.

One Android powered device that hasn’t even been released yet is the T-Mobile G2. This device is the obvious successor to the G1 and is shaping up to be quite a heavy exclusive for T-Mobile. The reason we say this is because the wireless carrier has already begun hyping the device, touting its HSPA+ connectivity quite highly.

Unfortunately we still don’t have a solid release date for the G2 with our only hint being a leaked internal calendar pinning September 29th as its street date.

If you just can’t wait any longer and want to taste a piece of the G2 pie you’re in luck as the device’s Android build has been leaked. Now normally this wouldn’t be that exciting considering the device isn’t even out yet but what is exciting is the fact that the G2′s Android build has been successfully ported to other devices.

If you so choose to give said port a go, you will be greeted with all new Google Voice widgets that notify you of missed calls, voice mails, text messages and more. I don’t know about you guys, but this seems like another step towards phasing out wireless carriers and having Google Voice be a consumers best choice for making and receiving calls whether it be at home or on the go.

We’ll let you know when T-Mobile actually announces the release date for the G2.
