T-Mobile Confirms BlackBerry Curve 3G Release & Pricing, Available September 8th For $79.99 [T-Mobile Takes To Facebook & Officially Announces BlackBerry Curve 3G Will Be Available September 8th]

This past Friday we began hearing rumors that T-Mobile was going to have the recently announced BlackBerry Curve 3G available for purchase as of September 8th. Well, in a little bit of good news for anyone waiting, that rumored date is now official.

As for pricing, expect to pay $79.99. Of course, that price means a two-year agreement, but that is kind of expected. With that, there is relatively little that is unknown for the Curve 3G at this point. And thankfully for anyone that may not be a fan of the smoky violet, the Curve 3G will also be available in graphite grey (pictured above).

In terms of hardware, the handset comes sporting a 2.4 inch QVGA display with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution, 1150mAh battery, 624MHz processor, 256MB internal memory, microSD card slot (ships with 2GB card included), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS and a 2 megapixel camera with zoom and video recording as well as BlackBerry 5 in terms of the OS. Plus, those who make the purchase can also expect to get an upgrade to Blackberry 6 at a yet to be announced time in the future. And as implied by the name, the Curve 9300 is 3G equipped.

But perhaps a little more fun than the specs is the way the release date and pricing were announced, on Facebook. Sure, it is just Facebook, but Facebook has comments for posts and that usually means at least a few minutes of fun reading. As of this posting there are a good mix of 14 likes and 20 comments. Of course, the comments are the real gold in this case and on this post contain everything from people looking for the Torch to BlackBerry 6 to Android fans professing their love and wanting to know how much the G2 is going to cost. Hey, I am with you on the G2′s price, I am curious, but why waste the time writing a comment on a Facebook post about a BlackBerry — do these people really expect T-Mobile to offer pricing details by way of a comment reply?
