Nokia C6-01 Leaks Online, Expected To Come Official On September 14th at Nokia World 2010

Aside from having a large sum of market share, Nokia has at least one other (and not so nice) thing going for it — confusing product names. Or more specifically, confusing product numbers. In this case I am referring to the successor of the Nokia C6, the C6-01.

Of course, this one comes as a mixed bag. The Nokia C6-01 is going to be sporting a very similar exterior casing and design as the C6. But what that really means is that the C6-01 will still be a candybar style handset with a larger touchscreen display. But thankfully the hardware and software features are going to be different.

The first and perhaps the most noticeable change will be in terms of the operating system. The Nokia C6 came with S60 5th Edition while the C6-01 will have Symbian^3. Another nice upgrade will come in the form of the camera, the C6-01 will have an 8 megapixel with flash while the C6 had a 5 megapixel camera.

Otherwise the Nokia C6-01 will also be ditching the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Of course, that is based on the fact that the gap on the C6 is no longer showing on the C6-01, which would lead one to reason that the sliding action has been removed. The other backing to the lack of keyboard comes in from the User Agent Profile which lists the C6-01 as having a “PhoneKeyPad” which certainly does not sound like a hardware keyboard in any way.

And alas, that seems to sum up the details that we know so far in regards to the updated C6-01 handset. Thankfully though Nokia World 2010 is going to be kicking off soon enough — September 14th in London. Granted, we are not sure Nokia is planning to officially unveil the C6-01, but it does seem likely. And for those wondering, the above image with the price came when the handset made a surprise appearance on the Dutch version of the Nokia storefront.
