Camangi WebStation II & FM600 Android Tablets Revealed
At this rate it looks like IFA is going to explode and send Android based tablets flying all over. At least that is how it seems, and this latest bit looks like we are going to be seeing at least two more, the WebStation 2 and the FM600, both of which are coming courtesy of Camangi.

Of course, some may recognize the Camangi name. After all, they have had an Android tablet on the market for a while now. Sadly though, with its $399 launch price and later $275 price tag it never saw much in terms of success. That and, the original WebStation is also suffering from being stuck on Android 1.5 with a slow processor and low RAM. And I say that from experience as I was able to review a unit a while back. (And in disclosure, the unit I reviewed was provided by Camangi.) The unit also does not have access to the official Android Market.
But moving forward it looks like a few new options coming from Camangi may be, or depending on price, could be better than the original WebStation. That said, it would not be hard to be better. Bad jabs aside though, recently posted on the IFA website were specs for the FM600 and WebStation II — both of which are said to be running Android 2.2. But lets get into the specs for each.
First up is the FM600, this one will feature a 7 inch WVGA (800 x 480) capacitive single-touch display, 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, microSD card slot, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 3.5mm headphone jack, miniUSB, G-sensor, e-compass, 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus on back, VGA camera on front and a 3240 mAh battery. Furthermore, there is also mention of a 3G card slot and network support in the form of GSM Quad-band 850/900/1800/2100, UMTS (WCDMA) 900/1900/2100, GPRS Class 12. Interestingly enough, the FM600 is also noted as coming complete with the Android Market as well as pre-installed Google apps to include Gmail, Google Maps, Google Talk, YouTube and Maps Navigation.

Next up is the WebStation II, which is noted as having a 7 inch WSVGA 1024 x 600 capacitive mult-touch TFT-LCD, 1GHz Samsung S5PV210 processor, 512MB RAM, 2GB internal storage, HDMI out, 3G, Wi-Fi, accelerometer, GPS and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. In addition, the WebStation II will have a microSD card slot and is noted as shipping with an 8GB SanDisk card installed.
Personally, these seem like they will be an improvement. That said, they seem like they would be better combined as one. For example, the FM600 has is said to have Android Market access, but sadly it has a capacitive single-touch display. The WebStation II on the other hand, has a multi-touch display and faster processor, but no mention of Google apps of the Android Market. Somehow this seems like a cruel joke and mix of specs. With that, it does not sound like we are going to be lacking available Android tablets at IFA.
