BlackBerry Torch Lookout! Motorola (Droid) XT300 Android Slider Coming to Get You [Motorola XT300 Portrait Slider Appears in Non-Blurry Shots; to Compete Against the BlackBerry Torch 9800]
The Palm Pre, a very famous portrait slider, brought to the mobile business the impressive webOS platform but failed to be the iPhone killer everyone was expecting it to be. A year later RIM came up with a daring, but similar design, the BlackBerry Torch 9800, but it’s not an iPhone killer either.

And now, less than a month after the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has started selling, we see one more similar design, the Motorola XT300, an Android device (obviously) that seems to be ready to fight the Torch in the following period of time.
The Motorola XT300 has been leaked and we’re happy to see the folks behind these leaks starting to use better and better cameras for their unofficial pictures. The XT300 has been captured on camera and we can clearly see its resemblance with the Torch. Maybe this device doesn’t want to be an iPhone killer after all; maybe it simply wants to be a Torch killer.
Android is growing in popularity a lot faster than BlackBerry OS 6 is, so regular BlackBerry users might end up carrying Android devices soon, especially if they look a lot like BlackBerry handsets. Motorola isn’t interested in Windows Phone 7 handsets so far, but it’s ready to experiment with handsets similar to those made by RIM. Not only do we have this XT300 slider, running Android and rivaling the Torch, but we’ve also seen the Motorola Charm out in the open, which is another Android handset that’s pretty similar to a BlackBerry device. You’ll say you also love the BlackBerry services you get to use on your RIM-made device, but then Google has plenty of services incorporated in Android, wouldn’t you agree?
Getting back to the XT300, we don’t see this as the next Droid X successor, but rather as an entry- to mid-level Android device. That full QWERTY keyboard says this phone is not scheduled to hit just Asian countries as some might think, and looking at that Big Red eye there, it’s pretty clear what carrier will sell it in the USA.
We’ll be waiting for more Motorola XT300 details, since these haven’t been leaked just yet, and we’ll be back once we know more about it.
So what is it going to be? The BlackBerry Torch 9800 or the Motorola (Droid) XT300?
