Toshiba Folio 100 Android Smart Pad / Tablet Comes with Tegra 2 on Board [Toshiba’s iPad Alternative is an Android Smart Pad that Goes By the Name of Folio 100]
We already know that Toshiba is interested in making an iPad alternative and it looks like we have more and more details about the unreleased tablet. Or shall we call it a Smart Pad, as that’s what we’re apparently looking at. Or shall we call it the Folio 100? As that’s apparently the future name of this product!

It’s not that important what this Smart Pad will be called as we’re rather interested in what’s under the hood. So, does this Folio 100 have what it takes to fight the iPad, and any other tablet for that matter?

Here’s a full list of specs and features for the Folio 100, although we have no way of knowing whether they’re the real thing or not for now:
- OS: Android 2.2
- Processor: NVIDIA Tegra 2
- Display: 10.1-inch multitouch display with 1,024 x 600 screen display
- Audio: 2 stereo speakers and microphone
- Storage: 16GB of internal memory
- Networking: 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, USB 2.0
- Card reader: SD up to 32GB
- Battery: 1020mAh; up to 7 hours of life with mixed use
- Internet: Opera Mobile Browser with Flash 10.1
- Multimedia: 1.3-megapixel webcam
- Dimensions: 281 x 181 x 14 mm
- Weight: 760gr
The Folio 100 sounds pretty interesting so far so we’ll be waiting for IFA 2010 to see if Toshiba will make it official or not. What’s interesting though is that these leaks fail to tell us anything about content. Sure there will be plenty of apps available from the Android Market, but what about video and eBook support? You know, anything similar to what the iPad has to offer?

Toshiba seems to have great plans for this tablet as the Folio 100 already has accessories lined up for consumers. And since the Smart Pad name is apparently used to indicate the product category we can only assume similar devices will follow in the future.
