Mozilla's Fennec Mobile Web Browser Enters Alpha
While there are many competitors in the web browser industry Mozilla has managed to maintain a large portion of the market share. In fact, they come in at number 2 just behind Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

Currently at version 3.6 Mozilla’s Firefox has been around since ’04 but has maintained a decently similar look for the past couple versions. However, Mozilla has Firefox 4.0 in the pipeline that looks to prove itself as an even fiercer competitor to the opposition from browsers like Chrome, Opera, Safari and Internet Explorer. Desktop browsers aren’t the only thing Mozilla has been working as they also have a mobile counterpart in the form of Fennec.
Mozilla’s Fennec mobile web browser is available for Android powered devices along with the Nokia N900 but not in a finished form. It has actually been available in a prealpha form but only recently has Mozilla announced the alpha version of Fennec. This new alpha version isn’t much different than the prealpha version but does contains various bux fixes and tweaks that will make for a more pleasant experience. In fact, Mozilla is saying the browser’s performance of graphic intensive actions will be greatly inproved over the prealpha version
Although, a big feature that it does have is Firefox Sync compatibility which will actually sync your mobile browser with your desktop browser. Additionally, Mozilla has also given Fennec the ability to utilize browser add-ons – two things that will make the browser much more useful as opposed to any given device’s stock browser.
Unfortunately, for you iOS owners looking to get down on some Firefox Mobile, you’re out of luck as Mozilla has yet to make their plans for said platform known. Although, considering iOS does have Firefox Home which lets you utilize your Firefox bookmarks and the like with mobile Safari it wouldn’t be too far fetched to assume Mozilla would bring Firefox mobile to the platform at some point.
You can head here to grab the download for Android an the Nokia N900 but be warned, it’s in alpha so bugs are expected.
