MetroPCS May Beat Verizon To LTE
If you believe internet rumors, Verizon is going to turn on their LTE network to the public sometime around October. That rumor makes this rumor much more interesting. An unnamed Samsung executive told Dow Jones that metroPCS will turn on their LTE network in September with the LTE-ready Samsung Craft. That’s one month ahead of Verizon, folks.

This would give metroPCS the honor of being the “First LTE Network in the United States.” That honor would be a dubious one though, as metroPCS LTE network will only cover Las Vegas and Dallas. When you consider that Verizon’s will cover some 38 different cities, you can start to see things more clearly.
As for the phone, the Samsung Craft is a multimedia phone with a sliding QWERTY keyboard. It doesn’t look like it’ll exactly be a powerful superphone, but it should be good for a lot of people and hey – internet cruising will be awesome on it.
No idea how much metroPCS will charge for the LTE access, or if they’ll offer 4G mobile bandwidth. metroPCS currently doesn’t offer any mobile bandwidth cards – but hey, they might with 4G.
