LaCie Rikki Go External Hard Drives Are Small Yet Satisfying [LaCie Launches New 500GB & 1TB Portable HDD, the Rikki Go Line]
Are you looking for a new, portable external hard drive? Well LaCie has launched a brand new line of such hard drives, the LaCie Rikki Go and you might want to check them out.

The new LaCie Rikki Go drives measure just 155cm3 in volume, and you can already tell from that press photo that the HDD is really small. The new drives come in two flavors, 500GB and 1TB, but unfortunately they only come with USB 2.0 connectivity on board.
The new drives are encased in “sturdy” aluminum, but that doesn’t mean you get a license to drop them frequently. The Rikki Go are compatible with both Mac and PC and they come with a built-in USB cable so you’ll always be able to use them without having to remember to take the cable with you.
The Rikki Go drives also come with bundled software, and what’s interesting is that they offer an USB Boost software that will increase USB 2.0 speeds up to 33% (limited to PCs for now). It’s not USB 3.0 but still better than nothing. Automatic backup software is also included and you get 10GB of secure online storage from Wuala with each purchase.
Quitterie Lescartet, Consumer Product Manaer at LaCie had this to say about the new Rikki Go HDD line:
“We are thrilled to introduce 1TB capacity in this ultra–small, durable form factor. Today’s on–the–go consumers need to access vital media quickly and dependably. With its industry–leading capacity, Rikiki Go provides users with the ultimate data storage and mobility, at a competitive price.”
Speaking of prices, the new dries will be quite affordable too with the 500GB model selling at $89.99 while the 1TB version going for $149.99. So, which Rikki Go drive flavor are you going to go for? And if you’re looking for USB 3.0 support then you’re going to have to check at LaCie’s Rugged mobile hard drive line, which will also offer you 1TB models.
