Verizon HTC EVO 4G-like Super Smartphone to Dethrone the Motorola Droid X?
It looks like it’s time to say good-bye to the Motorola Droid X and the Motorola Droid 2. They’re not going anywhere, at least until the end of March 31, 2011, but they’re not going to be the most buzzed about Droids in Verizon’s Android lineup in the near future.

We’ve seen this happen before, and it’s one of the most important characteristics of the Android universe: hot smartphones come and go and there’s no handset to take the crown. It all started with the Motorola Droid. But then the Google Nexus One arrived, followed by the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, the HTC Desire, the HTC Droid Incredible, the HTC EVO 4G, the Motorola Droid X and Motorola Droid 2. The only phone that did outlast these devices when it comes to hype seems to be the Samsung Galaxy S that was announced at the same time the EVO 4G was made public.
These phones became quite popular Android devices and they’re all great iPhone alternatives, but they all faded from our minds the moment the next hot thing was made public, even if through rumors at first. And the new rumors tell us that Verizon already has a next Android flagship lined up to be unveiled at some point in the future.
Said device is apparently made by HTC and it’s very similar to the HTC EVO 4G available from Sprint. The smartphone heading to Verizon is equipped with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, an 8-megapixel camera with flash and video recording, front-facing camera, HTC Sense UI, a headphone jack and a kickstand. In other words this Verizon-bound device is probably going to arrive in the following months, so in case you don’t want to buy a Droid X, a Droid 2, an R2-D2 Droid 2 or a Fascinate, then this is the next Verizon handset you’ll have to keep an eye on!
