Supernova X1 3D Tablet Does 3D Without Glasses

Rockchip Powered Tablet PC Can Display in 3D

This one comes as something of a shock, but a really surprising product is starting to hit trade shows–a tablet PC that can display in 3D, but without glasses.

We’re talking about the Supernova X1 (which for some reason in this pic is labeled the Nova X1), a Rockchip-powered tablet that uses lenticular tricks, much like the Nintendo 3DS, to display images in 3D.

Now, this isn’t exactly according to Hoyle–some word says that the images have to be “processed” in some way before they hit the screen in 3D. But the 3D effect can be turned on and off as needed, and the only other things we know about it is that it runs Android and will be appearing at the IFA show next week.

Until then, it’s still a fairly exciting idea–tablets that work in 3D are few and far between, so we’ll definitely have to keep an eye on that one.
