Netflix for iPhone & iPod touch Now Available [Netflix Updates iOS Application; Works on iPhone & iPod touch Too]

Netflix has been one of the most expected applications in the iOS environment. The first app came right after the launch of the iPad and today we’re happy to announce you that Netflix has updated the app to include support for iPhone and iPod touch.

That means you can start streaming your favorite shows on the iPhone and iPod touch besides your iPad, which is something Netflix fans have wanted for a while now. And we’d call it almost a perfect timing especially with the new iPod touch 4G coming out in less than a week. Here’s the official description of the app, as updated in the App Store:

Get Netflix on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Just download this free app and you can instantly watch TV shows & movies streaming from Netflix.
• It’s part of your Netflix unlimited membership. Not a Netflix member? Start your FREE trial today.
• Watch as often as you want
• Resume watching where you left off on your TV or computer
• Browse movies and manage your instant Queue right from your device

The app doesn’t cost anything to download to your iOS devices, but streaming movies is not free and monthly membership charges will apply. The good news though is that there are no restrictions in place and users can stream movies both on 3G and Wi-Fi, but we’ll definitely be waiting for your confirmation on that.

A couple of weeks ago we showed you a different application called PlayOn, which was ready to offer Netflix and Hulu support on the iPhone and iPod touch. But PlayOn wasn’t available for free so I don’t blame you if you were waiting for the real thing, at least from Netflix.

Even without the HBO shows, Netflix has plenty of titles to choose from and their partnership with Epix should bring you even move movies while you’re on the go. Have you tested Netflix on the iPhone and iPod touch?

Just played a movie over 3G, started with a bunch of Skips, but stable after. One big caveate on iPhone4, the app consumed 75% of the battery after 1 hour of playback. Does not look good for the ability to stream multiple movies or even one full lenght movie without a power connection active…Maybe I still have to convert/rip DVD movies with iFunia DVD ripper pro to my MAC and enjoy on the go, also battery not use up so quickly, stick with long time…
