Leaked iPod touch 4G & iPod nano 6G Cases Say Big Design Changes Are Coming

Leaked Cases from China Suggest New Features for the Next-gen iPod nano & iPod touch 4G

September 1 is approaching fast and that’s the date Apple is going to host is its annual music-centered event, and we have a pretty good idea of what’s going to go down in San Francisco next week.

Even if not all the predictions are going to come true, what’s safe to say is that Apple will launch the next-gen iPods, the iPod touch 4G (fourth-gen) and the iPod nano 6G (sixth-gen) in less than a week, and today we have more cases that apparently prove the new designs of this two upcoming devices.

The iPod touch case reveals the fact that the new iPod touch will come with a built-in camera with flash while maintaining the original iPod touch external design, but by now we’ve seen plenty of rumors and leaks that said the same thing. Furthermore iOS 4.1 reveals FaceTime support via email which means that the iPod touch 4G comes not with one but two cameras on board. Add to that some Retina Display magic and, voila, that’s the new flagship MP3 player Apple is about to offer its customers.

We’ve covered a lot of ground when it comes to the iPod touch 4G lately but didn’t really talk about another important iPod-family member, the nano. And the most important design changes seem to concern this device, and have been briefly rumored before. Earlier on this year we’ve heard that Apple has a new 3x3cm touchscreen display ready for a new device. Well, that case right there pretty much confirms the idea that the iPod nano 6G is going to dump the famous click wheel and replace it with a touchscreen display. The case also has a space ready to accommodate a clip on the back and the volume buttons are clearly visible. But what about a camera? The current iPod nano model comes with a camera on board. Will Apple give that up in the new iPod nano version? That seems something unlike Apple, so we might also be looking at the new iPod shuffle here: still small, but with a couple of new hot features.

Either way, these cases are not enough to confirm the upcoming designs, so we look forward to the official keynote for more details about Apple’s next-generation of iPods. So stick around, folks, as we will bring you all those hot details starting next week.
