Sony Ericsson Vivaz Officially Announced By AT&T, On Sale September 5th For $79.99 [Sony Ericsson Vivaz Announced For AT&T, Will Feature 3.2" Display, 8.1MP Camera & Symbian S60]
Coming as a nice confirmation, but with little surprise — AT&T has announced the upcoming availability of the Symbian-based Sony Ericsson Vivaz. Of course, that little surprise comes in response to the fact that we had already seen the Vivaz listed both with the FCC and also on the Sony Ericsson website.

Nonetheless, it is nice to see an official announcement. Lets first mention the pricing and availability date. The Vivaz will be available as of September 5th and carrying a $79.99 price tag. And that comes after a $50 mail in rebate and along with a two year agreement. Also worth noting, the Vivaz was described as being an AT&T exclusive.
In terms of specs, the Vivaz will come sporting a 3.2 inch (360 x 640) touchscreen display, 8.1 megapixel camera with HD video recording, 3G, Wi-Fi, aGPS and Stereo Bluetooth. And given this is on AT&T and has Wi-Fi, you will also have access to use any of the AT&T Hotspot locations.
In addition, the Vivaz will be compatible with AT&T services to include Navigator and Social Net which combines your Facebook, MySpace and Twitter accounts as well as having pre-loaded links to image and video sites to include Picasa and YouTube. You can also expect to find two quick camera keys, one for photo and one for video as well as the Vlingo voice recognition software.
The one interesting part that will need to be decided, will AT&T customers feel comfortable purchasing a Symbian, in this case Symbian S60 5th Edition based phone? But operating system aside, this does appear to be a fairly nice offering, especially for someone looking for a phone with a decent camera.
Lastly, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz will be available in two color options — Galaxy Blue and Venus Ruby. Though, the Venus Ruby was listed as being available for a limited time only.
