Samsung Galaxy S Power Pack EBB-U10 Case Outed By German Newsletter

External Battery Pack Case Combo For Samsung Galaxy S Smartphones Outed, Will Add Bulk & Up To 8.5 Extra Hours Of Run Time

A German language Samsung newsletter has recently surfaced showing off a yet to be announced accessory for the Galaxy S smartphone — an external battery pack. The battery/case combo appears to be called the Samsung Power Pack and sports the model number of EBB-U10.

And as much as I am generally not a fan of external battery packs because they tend to add some serious bulk to the phone, this one appears to have a nice design. A design that at least based on the image may not add that much bulk. Of course, it should go without saying that you will likely notice some extra weight. The one curious point comes in with the little bump up on the top left corner, you have to wonder why they could not have just left that off and included the Galaxy S branding on the back of the case.

Otherwise, as to what you will get in return for adding on the extra size and weight (70 grams) — up to an additional 8.5 hours of talk time or 500 hours of standby time. Not bad. There also appears to be an LED battery status indicator. And for those not able to speak German, but still wondering about the description in the above image.

“The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is one of the most powerful mobile phones on the market. To use this power to move even more comprehensive, it is with the Power Pack EBB-U10 perfectly matching battery extension. The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is there simply implanted “and already it has enough power for up to an additional 8.5 hours of talk time or up to 500 hours standby. The testers are, moreover, agreed by the Bank: The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is found in the top rankings ever before and need no other phone to hide. Example is the good test results with CHIP, and connect online kosten.de.”

With that, we are still missing some key items here — the price and availability date. And lastly, yes, despite having a special branded Galaxy S external battery/case combo — the handset does have a user replaceable battery.

I suspect that extra bump is there to house the usb connector which will connect the external battery to the phone.
