Nissan Says 25,000 Leaf Units To Be Delivered By 2011

Nissan Looks To Clear Most of Its Waiting List By The End of the Year

For those of you who tossed your $99 dollars down the rathole of the waiting list for Nissan’s electric Leaf vehicle (a name, by the way, I hate for its grammatical boondoggle; is the plural Leafs or Leaves? I note most publications are avoiding the issue entirely.), you may now cheer up, as Nissan’s planning to clear most of its waiting list by the end of the year and deliver fully 25,000 of them.

Yes, there’ll be more Leaf units on the ground than on a Fall color tour, as it appears that the earlier rumors about most of the Leaf units going to Japan were premature, and that plenty of them will be routed toward the United States. In fact, Nissan projects that the waiting list will be completely cleared, and most folks will actually have their Leaf units by the fall of 2011.

So if it feels like you’ve been waiting forever to get behind the wheel of your reserved Leaf, then take heart, for your wait is nearly over.
