Acer Chrome OS Netbook Specs Revealed Via Bug Report
We are reasonable sure that Acer is one of the companies working on a Chrome OS based netbook. Granted, nothing has come officially, but it has been rumored on many occasions. That said, it looks like some of the specs for a Linux based netbook have recently been revealed by way of a bug report.

Naturally, the Linux based netbook was assumed to be Chrome OS. And yes, these specs are still rumors. The details come from Macles, who is reporting that;
“I noticed the following patch note in the changelog for version 2.6.36-rc1 of the Linux kernel, released a week ago. It’s a patch (commit is here) which adds support for a Realtek ALC271 audio chip used in an Acer ZGA device.”
Furthermore, the post goes onto mention that ZGA is a model number for an “unknown machine” and determines that this bug report “at this stage this someone could only be Acer, or a partner.” In the end, he determined that “the Acer ZGA was intended to ship with Linux factory installed on it.”
Up until now we have some detective work being done, however this is where the assumption came into play, it was determined that it was “probably Chrome OS.” Needless to say, now that you have a brief mention of the back story, lets get into the rumored specs.
According to the details given, the Acer branded Chrome OS netbook will feature a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB SanDisk pSSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an ambient light sensor.
Of course, nothing yet as far as when this model could come available or for how much. Not to mention, these specs could be part of an early build such as for a testing machine and still subject to change. After all, there are newer Intel Atom processors (such as the N550) still being introduced.
