Toshiba SmartPad Press-Style Images Revealed
IFA 2010 is going to kick off shortly in Berlin and with that there is likely to be many new gadgets featured. Of course, it is beginning to look like a fair amount of them will be tablet related. Earlier this morning we mentioned how ViewSonic was going to be showing off the ViewPad 7 and ViewPad 10. And now it looks like we may have the Toshiba SmartPad as well.

Unfortunately, unlike the news of the ViewPad, the Toshiba bits are still just a rumor at this point. But we can keep our fingers crossed anyway. Still, the Toshiba SmartPad has previously been rumored for a September or October release, so an IFA unveiling seems likely.
As far as what we know, the SmartPad will have USB, miniUSB, HDMI, a memory card slot and 3.5mm headphone jack on the top. In addition the power jack appears to be on the top alongside the 3.5mm headphone jack. Looking at the other image and we can see what appears to be a docking port on the bottom, though that one is a little more of an unknown. Otherwise, coming as a nice little touch, the HDMI, USB and miniUSB ports are all covered by a folding cover.
As for the display, that is believed to be 10 inches, but based on the images you can also see the four touch sensitive buttons off to the right hand side. As for those, they seem to be in the style of what we have become familiar with in terms of Android — Search, Back, Home and Menu.
Other previous rumors had the SmartPad running Android, being powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and sporting a front facing camera for video conferencing. The only other notable item from the images comes in the form of a pair of speakers. If you look closely at the bottom left and bottom right you will see them. Nice having them on front as they may be less likely to get blocked by a hand when in use.
With that, we now wait for IFA, well that or more leaks.
