Motorola Android 2.1 & 2.2 Upgrade Timeline Updated

Motorola has once again updated their “Android Software Upgrade News” page over on the support forums. This of course, comes with good news for some and not so good news for others. But in the end, whether good or bad at least you can know what to expect.

And even though Motorola is only offering general timeframes as opposed to exact dates, this at least gives you a good idea of what to expect. If nothing else, we have to thank Motorola for being so upfront with a nice listing like this.

With that, perhaps the most notable difference with this Upgrade News update as opposed to those in the past — the addition of Android 2.2 Froyo related upgrade news as well as a few new handsets including the Droid X.

As for Android 2.2 those look to include the Droid and the Droid X. Of course, we have seen the Droid roll-out has already begun and for the X, that is still listed as “later this summer.” Otherwise, the only other handsets looking at Froyo right now are the Milestone, Motoroi and the Titanium. Those latter two are also only available in the Korean market, but as for when, Q4. The other handset update, for the Milestone is expected to hit Europe and Korea in Q4 and is currently “under evaluation” for Canada, Latin America and Mexico.

Otherwise, a bit of bad news for those sporting a Devour here in the US as well as the Backflip or Dext in Europe, Latin America or Mexico — you will be out of luck as there are no plans to go to Android 2.2 or even 2.1.

Lastly, there are quite a few that should be coming up to Android 2.1 soon, or in the not-to-distant future. And while that list is much longer, it includes the Backflip, Cliq, Cliq XT, Dext and more.
