Nikon D3100 Gets Official [After Rumors And Leaks, Nikon's New Consumer DSLR Offers 14MP For $700]
It was leaked to the internet some time ago, but Nikon has finally introduced their new consumer-grade digital SLR camera. The new camera goes head to head with the Canon T2i and looks to be a decent competitor in that market.

The D3100 will sport a 14.2-megapixel camera with a shutter rated for 100k shots. It also features improved video recording (an oft-requested feature for amateurs). It’ll be capable of recording in 1080p video at 24 frames per second, or 720p video at 24 or 30 frames per second. It records in H.264 or AVCHD, if you know what that means.
It offers a 3-inch LCD on the back and in-camera video editing (this is a feature that we’ve seen with other cameras and in mobile phones. Expect it to be a bigger feature in the future). It offers a 3FPS burst mode too, and an 11-point autofocus. According to CrunchGear, the auto-focus will be capable of 35-person face recondition, which sounds almost like overkill.
For newbies looking to get into the DSLR game, the Nikon D3100 should be on sale in mid-September with a MSRP of $699.55, which includes a 18-55mm lens.
