iPad 2, iPod touch 4G & Mystery Device (Not CDMA iPhone, But iTV?) Found in Testing

Apple Now Said to Test iPod 4,1, iProd 2,1 & unknownHardware; All Running iOS 4.1

Apple is apparently getting ready for the upcoming iPod- / Music-related media event scheduled for September. And what better way to do that than to test at least some of the new devices that are scheduled to be unveiled at that particular event?

According to a leaked shot, three such products have been / are tested: the new iPod touch 4G, which will surely be introduced this fall; the new iPad 2, possibly the 7-inch version (but it could also be the 9.7-inch next-gen tablet), which is rumored to arrive in January and an unknownHardware device, which is running iOS 4.1 just like the other two.

As you can see in the screenshot below, the iPod touch 4G is labeled as the iPod 4,1, the iPad 2 as the iProd 2,1 while the mystery device is called the unknownHardware wearing the product ID 20547. So what are we looking at over here? Is it the new CDMA iPhone 4? Or is it the new iTV (or whatever they’re going to call it), which is Apple’s iOS 4.1-running Apple TV?

By now we have been used to see plenty of such screenshots and they lineup perfectly with our expectations for the immediate period when it comes to new Apple product launches, matching most of the rumors we’ve heard so far. A new iPod touch 4G is definitely on the way and will be released in the near future, a second-generation iPad is definitely expected to arrive shortly while the revamped Apple TV has to arrive even if only to harass Google with complicated mind-games.

The product IDs prove that we’re talking about next-generation devices here, the iPod 4,1 and iProd 2,1 refer to the fourth- and second-generation iPod touch and iPad, respectively and the unknownHardware device can’t be a new CDMA iPhone 4 version, can it? Such device should be labeled iPhone 3,2 or iPhone 3,3, just like we’ve seen a few days ago.

So what say you folks? Do you have any reason for wanting an unwantedHardware that would bring some sort of iOS flavor to your TV experience?
