Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 Netbook Comes Available In Europe
It looks as if Dell has rolled out the latest in the Inspiron Mini netbook lineup, the model is the 1018 and it will serve as the follow up to the previously available Mini 1012. And while the Mini 1018, for the most part looks exactly like the 1012, there are a few notable differences.

Lets first mention the where and how much. The Inspiron Mini 1018 netbook comes with a starting price of £279, which will likely lead you to guess this next bit. As of now the Mini 1018 is available in Europe, or more specifically it has been spotted on both the UK and Italian Dell websites. Otherwise, as of now no mention of a US release.
Getting back to those differences between the Mini 1018 and the Mini 1012. First is the exterior coloring, the 1018 now has a one-color exterior, which just so happens to be black. Furthermore and perhaps a little more important change is what Dell did with the trackpad and mouse buttons — they made it a little nicer on the 1018. As to how, the Mini 1018 now has separate buttons for the left and right as opposed to having them both integrated with the trackpad.
In terms of hardware specs, this is where we come to the last difference between the 1018 and the 1012. The Mini 1018 features a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor. And just for reference, the 1012 had a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450. This means the Mini 1018 can take DDR3 memory.
Moving past the processor and into the rest of the specs and we find a netbook with a 10.1 inch (1024 x 600) display, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive and running Windows 7 Starter Edition.
Other specs include an Intel NM10 chipset, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and options for either a 3 or 6 cell battery.
And lastly, the Dell Mini 1018 will not (at least for now) have an option to add in a high-resolution (1366 x 768) display or Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator. But thankfully, Dell is planning to keep the Mini 1012 available, just in case.
