Verizon Wireless Adds Skype To Brew-Based 3G Multimedia Phones
It looks like Verizon has just rolled out some additional support in terms of Skype capable phones. And in a little bit of a refreshing announcement, the support has come to a trio of devices in the 3G Multimedia lineup as opposed to the smartphone lineup.

While it would have been nice to see this announcement include a bunch of handsets, we suppose three is still good progress. The lucky three phones include the LG Chocolate Touch, the LG enV Touch and the Samsung Reality. If nothing else, at least these three can feel a little more like a smartphone.
As for getting the Skype app installed, there are a few methods to go about making that happen. First, and perhaps the easiest is by texting SKYPE to 2255. Of course, by doing that you will receive a text message reply with a link to download. Simple enough, but if for some reason you prefer not to text, you can always visit the Verizon Media Store from your phone.
The good news here is that the Skype app will be able to run in the background, which really just means that you will either not have to worry about missing a call, or perhaps worry about a little less battery life now that you have another app running at all times. Either way, having the option to background is a plus.
In terms of making calls, the Skype app will allow for free, discounted and regular minute calls. Breaking those down, you can make Skype-to-Skype calls, which are the free calls. In addition, using the Skype app to make a call to another number, whether it be landline or mobile will result in your Verizon minutes being used. And lastly, calls made to an international mobile or landline number can be made by using Skype credits.
